augustana

Augustana is an American rock band from San Diego, California who are signed to the Epic Records record label and are best known for their singles, "Boston" and "Sweet and Low."

==History==
In Autumn 2002 at Greenville College in Illinois, singer-songwriter Dan Layus joined friends together to create music. They began by re-recording "More than a Love Song" which Dan had written for his high school girlfriend. They wanted to call themselves The Looking Glass but changed their mind after finding another band of the same name. They quickly chose the "Augustana" which Dan claimed is an African word for monsoon season. It was also the name of Augustana College which frequently traveled to Greenville to compete in sporting events. The original members included Dan Layus, Jared Palomar, Josiah Rosen, and Simeon Lohrman. They recorded a full length record, ''Midwest Skies and Sleepless Mondays'' in the home recording studio of Dan's friend Jon King. The debut album was released in Spring 2003 and only 1000 copies were produced. Later that year the band recorded Mayfield EP and only 25 copies were made. Source: Wikipedia
