Karel Gott (born July 14, 1939 as Karel Gottar) is a Czech singer, as well as an amateur painter. Gott, sometimes nicknamed ''The Golden Voice of Prague'', has been voted the best male singer i.e. a winner of an annual national contest in Czechoslovakia or the Czech Republic (''The Golden/Czech Nightingale''), 34 times.
