Beijing 08: “Forever Friends”

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Alright so you're staying up late hooked up to the TV watching the Olympics or perhaps watching the live feeds online, whether this is you or not we thought of getting you in the mood for some singing and recording therefore we bring you the official version of Beijing 2008 song: "Forever Friends."

The lyrics of “Forever Friends” , which is recorded in English, read, "Forever friends in harmony/As the whole world joins and sees days of unity and peace/Forever through the years we'll hear the cheers/Joy and laughter everywhere/ We're together here to share/ Forever friends." Needless to say, this is a song of unity, harmony and fair play. Don't you feel that warm fuzzy feeling after reading them? Apparently, out of 30 contestant songs this one was selected by the Olympic Committee to be the official song for Beijing 2008.

The architects of the official Beijing Olympic song, "Forever Friends" were internationally renowned Chinese artistes Sun Nan and Coco Lee. The song was composed by Giorgio Moroder, who also composed 'Reach Out', the official song for Los Angeles 1984 Olympics. In addition, Moroder's resume includes Seoul 1988's 'Hand in Hand' and 'Un'estate Italiana' for the 1990 football World Cup.

So if you're feeling the Olympic spirit and are all fired up for the US olympic team we invite you to sing and record "Forever Friens." Go USA!

Amanda Beard: From Breaststroke to Freestyle

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Alright so if you're into the Beijing Olympics 2008 then you'll be jazzed to hear that everyone's favorite American Olympic swimmer turned-model Amanda Beard is switching styles, going from breaststroke to freestyle…do you get it? Yeah, she's actually showing it all (kinda) on a PETA ad against the use of fur. Amanda is joining the ranks of other Hollywood celebs such as Pamela Anderson, Eva Mendes and Alicia Silverstone in supporting PETA.

The "Be Comfortable in Your Skin, Do not Wear Fur" PETA slogan ad was supposed to be launched on Wednesday but apparently it had to be canceled due to safety concerns. In the ad the gold medal winner states,"I am definitely against wearing fur…I'd much rather go naked than ever put a dead animal on my body."

Beijing 2008 is not be free of political statements such as Amanda's. In fact, the US team last Thursday chose, track field star Lopez Lomong, a former refugee from violence in Sudan to carry the flag at the Olympic opening ceremony, putting the spotlight on China's foreing policy on Darfur.

The world media attention is centered on the US and Chinese olympic team as both countries embark upon a much publicized rivalry for Olympic supremacy. As for the US Olympic swimming team the first medals for swimming be awarded on Sunday. Good luck Amanda!

And Now An Important Message from Paris Hilton

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

OMG! You can't miss this party! The multimillonaire hotel heiress and socialite Paris Hilton is talking politics (oil dependency, taxes, hybrid technologies, energy policy, new jobs, etc. Promises, promises, promises! And we thought Paris Hilton and presidential candidate John McCain were BFFs (best friends forever). Are you kidding me? Apparently, she's like totally ready to lead. By the way, this spoof comes as a full fledged response ad to the McCain commercial dismissing Barack Obama as a Paris Hilton style of celebrity. And now an important message from Paris Hilton…

See more Paris Hilton videos at Funny or Die

OK, so white haired dude, (pink) White House, Rihanna for Vicepresident…OMG! Paris Hilton must have done something right since she actually caught the attention of McCain’s advisers and even a response from the McCain tent summarized as follows, "Paris Hilton might not be as big a celebrity as Barack Obama, but she obviously has a better energy plan."

Alright so she's now a key player in the presidential election…nothing in this world compares to Paris Hilton. Do Europeans have a socialite heiress wanna-be politican like this? Anyone remembers the Cicciolina in Italy? Perhaps the stars are blind or we the citizenry of the U.S. are way too celebrity addicted that we can actually go for the message: She’s blonde, she’s hot and she wants your vote! Maybe it's the barely-there leopard print bathing suit and gold stilettos that she wears in the spoof. Only in America! Oh, BTW, don’t forget to vote.! TTYL!

Madonna’s “Give it to me” Single is Out

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

And Madonna doesn't seem to stop innovating. For those of you who enjoy the the dance/club scene, the audio CD remix version of Madonna's "Give it me" was released yesterday. Not that this is a new creation of the pop queen, as a matter of fact, "Give it to me" was actually part of the "Hard Candy" previous release last April.

This new maxi-single produced by Farrell of the Neptunes, contains eight versions with collaborations from house music DJ remixers luminaries such as Paul Oakenfold and Eddie Amador. Once again, Madonna continues innovating, and with this new summer remix she's extending the life and adding a house music dimension to one of the best singles of her album "Hard Candy."

As Eddie Amador succintly put it, "Not everyone understands house music; it's a spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing…" Without a doubt we have to check it out for ourselves to see how spiritual we can get by getting down and dancing to the 8 remix versions of "Give it to me".

By the way, here at Red Karaoke we bring you "Give it to Me" so you can start practicing your singing, recording, and to get you on the mood for when you are ready to hit the club house music scene. Yeah, you know what we're talking about…the lights, the live house music DJs, all that fun stuff. Long live Madonna!

Have fun singing and don't forget to post your comments.

Artist of the week: John Mayer
