Britney Spears is Back!

Monday, September 8th, 2008

So yeah Britney Spears returned to the VMAs and this time unlike last year's appearance she actually look composed and great. Critics and fans are hailing her appearance as the 'resurrection' of her artistic career.

Spears, who has been nominated 16 times before but never won, thanked "God first and foremost for just blessing me like this" as she picked up the best video, best pop video and best female video awards for Piece Of Me.

British comedian Russell Brand, who presented the live show despite being a virtual unknown in the United States, hailed the "launch of a very new Britney Spears era". And according to Yahoo's omg!, Britney's was one the Best Dressed lumuniaries with a comeback in full swing last night at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards as she wowed the crowd in an impeccable silver frock, strappy heels, and a smile.

At the end of the day, Britney swept three of the most coveted awwards - Best Female, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year - for her "Piece of Me" video clip. Oddly, this time she did not even need to sing to win at the VMA awards. And by the way, Britney Spears kissed Paris Hilton this time. Yeah I know what you guys are thinking…not exactly a Madonna kiss though!

You Are What You Listen to

Monday, September 8th, 2008

A study conducted by a British professor of the University of Heriot-Watt in Scotland states that musical tastes define or are defined by the personality traits of individuals. The research findings are based on an investigative study of the relatioship between musical tastes and personality of 36,000 individuals from around the world.

The results are quite surprising. It turns out classical music fans and heavy metal followers have more things in common. As their classical music counterparts, the heavy metals fans are creative and they have strong sense of self esteem. On the other hand, heavy metal followers share "a love for magnificence" that predisposes them to appreciate classical music. "Aside from age difference, it's fundamentally the same type of people", says Professor North. "Many heavy metal fans would say that they also appreciate Wagner because of its grandeur, noise and exuberance". Similarly, the study demonstrates that despite the preconceived notions, heavy metal fans have an amiable personality. They do not act vehemently at work and lack confindence in themselves. This is in contrast to the classical music buffs who apparently have a very good opinion of themselves.

The study concludes that those who enjoy jazz and classical music are creative and have a high sense of self esteem. Although the first ones tend to be more extroverted while the lattter ones are seemingly more shy. On the other hand country music fans tend to be hard workers and be shy while rap followers are more extroverted. In addition, indie music fans seemingly lack self esteem and are less socially attuned. Those who enjoy of the soul genre can be more animated. The study assures that they are creative, extroverted, sweet and happy with themselves and with a high sense of self esteem.

And for those who have ever wondered why sports car drivers like to listen to their music full blast Professor North offers an explanation: those who prefer to listen to loud music tend to have higher incomes, while those who are more into relaxing tunes tend to be in the lower end of the income brackets.

According to the study, these are the following personalities based on musical tastes:

Blues (High self esteem, creative, extroverted, amiabke, happy with themselves)
Jazz (High self esteem, creative, extroverted) Classical music (High self esteem, creative, introverted, happy with themselves)
Rap (High self esteem, extroverted) Opera (High self esteem, creative, peaceful)
Country and western (hardworking, extroverted) Reggae (high self esteem, creative, laid back, happy with themselves)
Dance (Creative, extroverted)
Indie (Low self esteem, creative, laid back) Bollywood (Creative, extroverted)
Heavy metal rock (low self esteem, creative, laid back, introverted, happy with themselves)
Pop chart (High self esteem, less creative, hardworking, extroverted, not to happy with themselves)
Soul (High self esteem, creative, extroverted, happy with themselves)

So what do you think… ¿are you what you listen to?

Metallica Releases “Death Magnetic” on Sept. 12

Friday, September 5th, 2008

So if you are a Metallica you must be a happy camper now. Yeah the boys of Metallica are back in business and this time they are bringing us a new production to be released on September 12 titled "Death Magnetic".

However, the forthcoming Metallica album “Death Magnetic” apparently leaked online after allegedly being sold before its September 12 release date in a French record shop. According to unconfirmed internet reports on Blabbermouth, Metallica fans in the old continent got hold of the new album and posted pictures of the artwork, which are available to see on the Blabbermouth website.

Despite the leak, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said on a inteview on the Live 105 radio station based in San Francisco that he wasn't too concerned about possible losing sales. "Listen, we're ten days from release, I mean, from here, we're golden," he added. "If this thing leaks all over the world today or tomorrow, happy days. Happy days. Trust me. Ten days out and it hasn't quote-unquote fallen off the truck yet? Everybody's happy. It's 2008 and it's part of how it is these days, so it's fine. We're happy."

Currently, on a promotional tour in Eurore, METALLICA will play two budget-priced shows in London and Berlin to launch "Death Magnetic", including the opening show on September 12 at the new 17,000-capacity O2 World arena in Berlin.

Motörhead’s “Motorizer” in Stores Now!

Monday, September 1st, 2008

The British band of Motörhead, one of the finest hard rock and heavy metal bands have relesed in the United States their 24th album last Tuesday. According to the band’s website, the album “Motorizer” will be released on August 29 in Germany and September 1 in the rest of Europe. The album was produced by Cameron Webb and the recording took place at Sage & Sound and Foo Fighter Dave Grohl’s 606 studios in Los Angeles.

The band formed in 1975 by bassist, singer and songwriter Lemmy Kilmister (real name Ian Kilmister). They are widely recognized as progenitors of thrash metal, a fusion of heavy metal and what was soon to become hardcore punk. Consequently they influenced countless rock, punk rock, and heavy metal bands that follow.

The Motörhead trio had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, its follow on, Bomber, Ace of Spades, and particularly No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith, cemented Motörhead’s reputation as one of Britain’s foremost heavy metal groups. The band also provided wrestler Triple H’s entrance music, and has performed live at WrestleMania events. In 2004, Motörhead’s song, “You Better Swim”, was part of the soundtrack of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. It was not until the year 2005 that the band received its first Grammy.

Motörhead is currently on a full-scale U.S. tour together with Heaven & Hell and Judas Priest. The Metal Masters Tour started last August 6 in Candem, New Jersey and will close on October 18 in Las Vegas. The U.S. has already being touted as the tour of the year.
