“Soul” is sixth studio album for Seal
Wednesday, November 26th, 2008
It is not enough that Nigerian-born Seal has one of the best voices in the music industry but he apparently has also a great personality and yes, he is married to supermodel Heidi Klum. I know what you guys are thinking. What a lucky guy! Hey, you know what they say, some guys have all the luck.
'Soul' is the title of the sixth studio album from multiplatinum selling, Grammy-winning, critically acclaimed Seal. The album is really a compilation of soul classics, from Sam Cooke's 'A Change Is Gonna Come', Ben E. King's 'Stand By Me', and Ann Pebbles' 'I Can't Stand The Rain' to Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes 'If You Don't Know Me By Now' and Otis Redding's 'I've Been Loving You Too Long'. In this ocassion, Seal's new album was produced by David Foster. Foster has worked in the past with artists such as Céline Dion, Barbra Streisand and Michael Bolton.
The album was actually released on November 11, 2008 in the United States and on November 3, 2008 internationally. Although the majority of the tracks on "Soul" have been re-interpreted before by many artists the new "Soul" contains more of a different flavor with a sense of euro sophistication that makes it refreshing compared to previous versions.
Let's not forget this guy has over 15 million album sales and three Grammy Awards under his belt with classics such as "Crazy", "Fly Like an Eagle", "Kiss From a Rose", and "Love's Divine." I am sure he definitely brings some soulful reinterpretations of some big ole classics. So let's give Seal a chance. What do you think?
Alright, so a lot has been said and commented on Britney Spears but let me tell you something she's a fighter and resilient and I am proud of her. She's about to release Circus, her seventh album. Let's not forget that recently she kicked butt at MTV VMA awards, where she actually walked away with three Moonmen awards for 'Video of the Year', 'Best Female' and 'Best Pop Video' for 'Piece Of Me'.
Back in March Dr. Pepper promised a free can of the soft drink should Guns N' Roses issue its delayed LP “Chinese Democracy” before the close of 2008. So guess what? I guess my next hit of caffeine will be free, courtesy of Dr. Pepper. The actual release of "Chinese Democracy" has been scheduled for November 23 so it looks like they’re going to end up giving away a lot of soda pop. Not that it's my favorite soda but hey it's a freebie and the way the economy is, every little bit helps. Plus, come on dude they've been working on that album for like over 14 years or so.
Although Dido took some time off from music. She immersed herself into playing and producing fantastic music. In a recent interview Dido explained "I wanted to take some time to become a better musician". For the first two albums, any playing I'd done had been used purely for songwriting, which is very different from just playing for fun, like I had as a child. So I spent a lot of time just picking up instruments for playing's sake again. I loved it." Sometimes you have to take a break to come back stronger. And in the case of Dido the time off was reinvigorating.
Wunderkind David Archuleta, the 17 year old American Idol runner up released his first self-titled debut album last week and apparently it is getting a warm reception from fans and critics. In fact, Archuleta's first single ‘‘Crush’’ peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and is a top download on iTunes. Archuleta also had the opportunity to do some acting in his first released video 'Crush'. In his own words, "it was just a lot of fun to be able to get into character and the story and the whole thing and be able to kind of like, work with other kids my age in the music video."
