“Soul” is sixth studio album for Seal

It is not enough that Nigerian-born Seal has one of the best voices in the music industry but he apparently has also a great personality and yes, he is married to supermodel Heidi Klum. I know what you guys are thinking. What a lucky guy! Hey, you know what they say, some guys have all the luck.

'Soul' is the title of the sixth studio album from multiplatinum selling, Grammy-winning, critically acclaimed Seal. The album is really a compilation of soul classics, from Sam Cooke's 'A Change Is Gonna Come', Ben E. King's 'Stand By Me', and Ann Pebbles' 'I Can't Stand The Rain' to Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes 'If You Don't Know Me By Now' and Otis Redding's 'I've Been Loving You Too Long'. In this ocassion, Seal's new album was produced by David Foster. Foster has worked in the past with artists such as Céline Dion, Barbra Streisand and Michael Bolton.

The album was actually released on November 11, 2008 in the United States and on November 3, 2008 internationally. Although the majority of the tracks on "Soul" have been re-interpreted before by many artists the new "Soul" contains more of a different flavor with a sense of euro sophistication that makes it refreshing compared to previous versions.

Let's not forget this guy has over 15 million album sales and three Grammy Awards under his belt with classics such as "Crazy", "Fly Like an Eagle", "Kiss From a Rose", and "Love's Divine." I am sure he definitely brings some soulful reinterpretations of some big ole classics. So let's give Seal a chance. What do you think?

Britney’s ‘Circus’ to Release on Dec. 2

Alright, so a lot has been said and commented on Britney Spears but let me tell you something she's a fighter and resilient and I am proud of her. She's about to release Circus, her seventh album. Let's not forget that recently she kicked butt at MTV VMA awards, where she actually walked away with three Moonmen awards for 'Video of the Year', 'Best Female' and 'Best Pop Video' for 'Piece Of Me'.

So yeah Britney Spears is back with “Circus” and she is releasing it on her b-day, December 2 just in in time for her 27th birthday. One of the tracks 'Womanizer' has already spurred a frenzy among fans, critics and media. No doubt about it this new production can bring back Britney to the spotlight as one of the Queens of Pop.

In fact, she's been all over the place recently. On October 15, the "Womanizer" track made it to the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100, breaking the record set by T.I.'s Live Your Life. It also garnered first-week download sales of 286,000, the biggest opening-week tally by a female artist since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking digital downloads in 2003. It marked Spears's first number one single on the Hot 100 since her debut with "Baby One More Time." And on November 6, 2008, Spears won two awards at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008, "Album of The Year" for Blackout and "Act of 2008", and despite not being present, two acceptance videos were taped and shown at the show. So yeah I think we're actually witnessing the resurgence of the "Queen of Pop." No offense Madonna or Cristina, we still have a soft spot for you.

But that's not all. MTV will be releasing on November 30 a documentary titled "Britney: For the Record" two days before the actual release of 'Circus'. And there are rumors that right after the release she'll be embarking upon a concert tour series. We're glad things are working out for you Britney. Come on you guys! She's been through a lot in her private life and deserves all the kudos for pulling herself through. Way to go Britney!

Finally ‘Chinese Democracy’ is Here

Back in March Dr. Pepper promised a free can of the soft drink should Guns N' Roses issue its delayed LP “Chinese Democracy” before the close of 2008. So guess what? I guess my next hit of caffeine will be free, courtesy of Dr. Pepper. The actual release of "Chinese Democracy" has been scheduled for November 23 so it looks like they’re going to end up giving away a lot of soda pop. Not that it's my favorite soda but hey it's a freebie and the way the economy is, every little bit helps. Plus, come on dude they've been working on that album for like over 14 years or so.

But the question lingers though. Will Dr.Pepper scheme ruffle some feathers among the Chinese top officials by embracing the politically charged titled of the album? I'd think it would especially in the eyes of Chinese top dogs. Of course for those of us in the land of the free it seems like a pretty cool campaign. But doesn't Dr. Pepper and Guns N Roses want every Chinese to 'be a Pepper by drinking Dr. Pepper'?. I wonder what kind of marketing scheme can be next. I am thinking…free Dr. Pepper for when our President decides to ratify the Kyoto Protocol. Hey maybe Obama will finally give the green light to the ratification. That'd make him the perfect Dr. Pepper's CMO (Chief Marketing Officer). After all and based on a report issued by the US Energy Administration, we are the largest per capita emitter of carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels.

Ok so let's get back to the music though. As for the tracks the album brings Chinese Democracy will be featuring 14 songs, including "Scraped," "Shackler's Revenge" (which appears on the new "Rock Band 2" video game), "Street of Dreams," "If the World" (which accompanies the closing credits of Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe's "Body of Lies") and "This I Love." BTW, the last track is titled ‘Prostitute’. I wonder if that one is dedicated to Hugh Grant and Eliot Spitzer. Sorry I just couldn’t help it.

So for all of you who want to 'be a Pepper drinking Dr. Pepper' the company's plan is to distribute free cans of its product through an online coupon system. "People will go on Dr Pepper's Web site and we will send them a coupon for a free one," a Dr. Pepper spokesperson confirmed. "It's going to be real easy." Well, I guess we just hope the Dr. Pepper website doesn't crash starting on Sunday. Nah, I am sure they'll be prepared for that. Although the ultimate litmus test will be whether or not ex Guns N Roses members Slash and Buckethead will also get their free Dr. Pepper. I read somewhere that Axl Rose is actually willing to share his Dr. Pepper with Buckethead since he kinda helped out with the album before he left the band. That's nice of you, Axl.

Alright brethren…gotta go get ready for the weekend. Peace, love and recycle!

Brooke Is Off the Hook

Yeah ladies and gentlemen. And to think that the mayor of Mesa proclaimed the "Brooke White Day" last September 27, 2008. It goes to show you that the American Idol marketing and media machine has a tremendous power and reach. On her day, Brooke White visited her hometown of Mesa, AZ, signed autographs at the Milano Music Center and performed at the Mesa Amphitheater. The performance was free to the public. So the prodigal daughter went back to the place where she was born and delivered what she does best: sing.

Well so now, the singer-songwriter and fifth place finalist on the seventh season of American Idol is having a pretty busy life with her career. In fact, she released her first album entitled "Songs from the Attic".   As for her musical influences, Brooke White explained, "soulful sounds of the 70's" such as James Taylor, Carole King, Fleetwood Mac, the Carpenters, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, the Eagles, America, Carly Simon, the Bee Gees, Hall & Oates, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, and Phil Collins.

No doubts about Brooke is an ambitious and hardworking professional. She has even mentioned that she'd like to do a duet with John Mayer and other American Idol winners such as Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

So, at Red Karaoke, we are happy to share with you the new Brooke White karaokes for you to belt it out. So whatcha waiting for? Start singing now!

Dido Releases “Safe Trip Home”

Although Dido took some time off from music. She immersed herself into playing and producing fantastic music. In a recent interview Dido explained "I wanted to take some time to become a better musician". For the first two albums, any playing I'd done had been used purely for songwriting, which is very different from just playing for fun, like I had as a child. So I spent a lot of time just picking up instruments for playing's sake again. I loved it." Sometimes you have to take a break to come back stronger. And in the case of Dido the time off was reinvigorating.

Her fourth studio album released in the UK on November 17. However, the album was scheduled to release on November 18. Needless to say, it has definitely caught the attention of everyone in the music industry. From fans to critics the comeback has arisen curiosity and hype. "Safe Trip Home" was in part possible due to the collaboration of producer, Jon Brion, who has worked previously with acts such as Fiona Apple, Kayne West, Rufus Wainwright, Eels, etc. So in this respect, Dido is in good hands and the soulful and smouldering 11 tracks in the album proved so.

Aside from singing and songwriting, the 36 year old British has also been involved with 22 other female artists to raise awareness of the issue of mother-to-child transmission of HIV to unborn children in Africa. As a matter of fact, the single "Sing" was released on World Aids Day on December 1, 2007.

As for "Safe Trip Home", film directors from around the world were invited to make a series of short films to spotlight each of the album's 11 songs. Filmed at locations though out the globe (Mumbai, Rio, Bangkok and more). The idea was for each film will tp show a day in life of people in different parts of the world. If you haven't had a chance to get your copy of "Safe Trip Home", we invite you to sing to our collection of Dido's karaokes that includes tracks such as White flag, Thank you, Here with me and Hunter. And if you have anything to share with us about this new release drop us a line. Toodles for now!

Nickelback is Back with “Dark Horse”

How can these guys be the ‘dark horses’ of the rock n’ roll family when they have sold over 26 million albums worlwide? If anything, they should be the golden horses. And indeed they are. For their legions of fans these are great times since Nickelback is releasing the new studio album “Dark Horse”. The anticipated release of the band sixth studio album containing 11 tracks has caused a deal of reviews and high expectations. After all, Nickelback is considered one of the biggest rock band in the world.

For those of you trivia freaks the band’s name Nickelback originated from the nickel in change that band member Mike Kroeger gave customers at his Starbucks job. Kroeger would frequently say, “Here’s your nickel back”. And voila the name stuck. Their most recent work is co-produced by the band and Mutt Lange, known for having previously worked with acts such as AC/DC, Bryan Adams and Def Leppard.

Even has Walmart has joined the fanfare and craze about the new release by featuring a Walmart edition of “Dark Horse.” The edition actually comes with a link to download an MP3 from their performance on Walmart Soundcheck. You might be wondering…geez Walmart? Are they going mainstream? Hopefully not. I guess the jury is still out on “Dark Horse”. But hey we’d like to hear from you. That is if you already have listened to some of the tracks. But if not, we invite you to do some Nickelback recording with our Nickelback special karaoke section with tracks such as: Far away, Figured you out, Hero, How you remind me, and Saving me. Have fun!

David Archuleta’s Crush in Stores Now!

Wunderkind David Archuleta, the 17 year old American Idol runner up released his first self-titled debut album last week and apparently it is getting a warm reception from fans and critics. In fact, Archuleta's first single ‘‘Crush’’ peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and is a top download on iTunes. Archuleta also had the opportunity to do some acting in his first released video 'Crush'. In his own words, "it was just a lot of fun to be able to get into character and the story and the whole thing and be able to kind of like, work with other kids my age in the music video."

But Archuleta's debut album coincides with the release of David Cook's debut album too. In fact, David Cook, the self titled album is scheduled to release on November 18th. No doubts there will be some competition between these two young starts for capturing the hearts and minds of the younger demographic group, especially in the case of Archie's "Crush" . According to Nielsen SoundScan, the track sold 166,000 downloads in the first week in the United States. As of mid-November it has sold over 920,000 digital copies.

I can only imagine how busy this guy must be right now. He is a senior now in high school and also pursuing a full time music career simultaneously. Hopefully, he's actually enjoying and taking some time out to be a teenager. After being busy all summer working on the new album, he must be ready to have some time off. Well, c'est la vie you know. It's the price of stardom.

So David…we just want to wish you best of luck with your new album. And for those of you who are fans of Archie, here's the newly added karaoke version of 'Crush' for you to sing and have fun with.

David Cook Releases First Album on Nov. 18

These are definitely good times for those of you who are fans of American Idol season 2008 winner David Cook. The young star is set to release his self-titled debut album on November 18th, 2008. His first studio album has been produced by Grammy winning Rob Cavallo (Soungarden and Kid Rock), David Cook is a quality album full with radio hits. For this debut album Cook co-wrote 9 songs next to acclaimed songwriters like Chris Cornell, Brian Howes & Cathy Dennis. The 1st single “Light On” was co-written by one of rock music’s most influential innovators, Chris Cornell, lead singer and songwriter for Soundgarden and Audioslave.

Recently, David Cook scored his biggest gig so far in his career. He was the musical guest at Saturday Night Live. Cook sang two songs from his debut album “David Cook,” which comes out on Nov. 18: the first single, “Light On” and then the album’s first track, “Declaration” As for his appearance on SNL, Cook said, “I’m still a goober from the Midwest. Now I’ve just got a few more resources. I don’t feel like the show changed me at all.”

So it seems like this guy is staying grounded and has been working hard since he won American Idol back in January. In fact, some bloggers have been saying that perhaps he’s been working too hard 24/7 and that his voice sounded a bit ‘fatigue’ during the SNL cameo.

Regardless, David Cook is a talented young artist with a lot of runway and an inspiring figure to a lot of people so we thought of bringing you some karaoke tracks for you to rock on. So grab the mic and start singing to the music of “Declaration” and “Time of My Life”. So what do you think do you like David’s music? Drop us a line below.

AC/DC is back…Stronger Than Ever

Dude when I read about AC/DC’s comeback I must admit I was like totally stoked. I so grew up on AC/DC an then I went to college I remembered I went Angus Young style. I mean wearing shorts and tie…a la Anguys Young dude…not that I am that old but that was a few years back ;) So yeah, the AC/DC aussies have recently released a new album entitled ‘Black Ice’. Needless to say, the acca dacca fans are all over it already. Personally, I take anything from AC/DC.

As some of you might already know, “Black Ice” is the band’s first studio album in eight years. Black Ice features 15 new tracks from brothers Angus and Malcolm Young, Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams, and Phil Rudd. The album was produced by Brendan O’Brien and mixed by Mike Fraser at the Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, BC. Yahoo music has it that the band’s 15th effort has been heralded as “the biggest debut ever by a mainstream hard rock album.

So far, “Black Ice” has sold around 1,762,000 units in its first week since October 20th when it was released. The album went number one in 29 different countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom and United States. So these guys are definitely claiming back their spot as masters of metal.

The album’s first single, “Rock ‘N’ Roll Train,” debuted last August 28th. And the band kicked off its first world tour since 2001 last October. In addition, the band has also recently released “No Bull: The Directors Cut”, a newly edited, comprehensive HD DVD of the band’s famed July 1996 Plaza De Toros De Las Ventas concert in Madrid , Spain. So they seem to be keeping themselves busy and reinventing the AC/DC repertoire of classic and new hits. Good for those AC/DC fans. That’d be me too.

So in light of the release of AC/DC’s fifteen studio album release, we thought of sharing with you some of the AC/DC classics such as “Highway to Hell” , “For Those About to Rock” , “Thunderstruck” , “Who Made Who” and “Shook Me All Night Long” So whatcha you waiting for? Time for using those pipes of yours. Start singing now!
