Wunderkind David Archuleta, the 17 year old American Idol runner up released his first self-titled debut album last week and apparently it is getting a warm reception from fans and critics. In fact, Archuleta's first single ‘‘Crush’’ peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and is a top download on iTunes. Archuleta also had the opportunity to do some acting in his first released video 'Crush'. In his own words, "it was just a lot of fun to be able to get into character and the story and the whole thing and be able to kind of like, work with other kids my age in the music video."

But Archuleta's debut album coincides with the release of David Cook's debut album too. In fact, David Cook, the self titled album is scheduled to release on November 18th. No doubts there will be some competition between these two young starts for capturing the hearts and minds of the younger demographic group, especially in the case of Archie's "Crush" . According to Nielsen SoundScan, the track sold 166,000 downloads in the first week in the United States. As of mid-November it has sold over 920,000 digital copies.

I can only imagine how busy this guy must be right now. He is a senior now in high school and also pursuing a full time music career simultaneously. Hopefully, he's actually enjoying and taking some time out to be a teenager. After being busy all summer working on the new album, he must be ready to have some time off. Well, c'est la vie you know. It's the price of stardom.
