Dido Releases “Safe Trip Home”
Although Dido took some time off from music. She immersed herself into playing and producing fantastic music. In a recent interview Dido explained "I wanted to take some time to become a better musician". For the first two albums, any playing I'd done had been used purely for songwriting, which is very different from just playing for fun, like I had as a child. So I spent a lot of time just picking up instruments for playing's sake again. I loved it." Sometimes you have to take a break to come back stronger. And in the case of Dido the time off was reinvigorating.
Her fourth studio album released in the UK on November 17. However, the album was scheduled to release on November 18. Needless to say, it has definitely caught the attention of everyone in the music industry. From fans to critics the comeback has arisen curiosity and hype. "Safe Trip Home" was in part possible due to the collaboration of producer, Jon Brion, who has worked previously with acts such as Fiona Apple, Kayne West, Rufus Wainwright, Eels, etc. So in this respect, Dido is in good hands and the soulful and smouldering 11 tracks in the album proved so.
Aside from singing and songwriting, the 36 year old British has also been involved with 22 other female artists to raise awareness of the issue of mother-to-child transmission of HIV to unborn children in Africa. As a matter of fact, the single "Sing" was released on World Aids Day on December 1, 2007.
As for "Safe Trip Home", film directors from around the world were invited to make a series of short films to spotlight each of the album's 11 songs. Filmed at locations though out the globe (Mumbai, Rio, Bangkok and more). The idea was for each film will tp show a day in life of people in different parts of the world.
