The All American Rejects

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Oklahoma natives Tyson Ritter, Nick Wheeler, Mike Kennerty and Chris Gaylor are the names of the members of "The All American Rejects" a band that reached popularity with the release of the album "Move Along." Today, the band is one of the top pop rock bands, producing three U.S. Hot 100 top twenty hits with two reaching the top ten.

The All American Rejects album "Move Along" was certified double Platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA. As for the band's third album, the band released "When the World Comes Down" last December 16, 2008 and has so far their first single off "When the World Comes Down", called "Gives You Hell" has reached #14 on VH1's Top 20 Countdown. So, these guys are doing well so far for a band that was founded back in 2001 by Tyson Ritter and Nick Wheeler. In fact, even the Oklahoma Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has honored the band as an "Uprising Star."

Recently, an LA Times review referred to the band's music as "relentlessly hooky singles destined to score teenage rom-com dance party sequences for time immortal, and it hasn't hurt that their emo-Adonis frontman Tyson Ritter has cheekbones that could slice bread." I guess the jury is still out as to whether frontman Tyson Ritter is just a pretty boy who can carry emo's poppiest tunes.

So what is your opinion? Well, here's "Move Along" for you to give it a try and have fun. And by the way, before I take off I want to wish you all a Happy New Year! Ciao.

Jonas Brothers Nominated for a Grammy

Friday, December 26th, 2008

No doubts about it, Kevin, Joe, and Nick have been quite busy creating music appealing mostly to that younger demo and have become in the process a new pop cultural phenomenom. The new album “A Little Bit Longer” contains 12 tracks, and according to music critics, marks a new evolving step in their careers as songwriters. And recently they were just nominated to their first Grammy Award in the category of Best New Artist. The 51st edition of the Grammys will take place on Sunday, February 9 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The show will air on CBS.

As for their career, although short, the Jonas Brothers have been quite active. They have released two albums “It’s About Time” in 2006, and “Jonas Brothers” in 2007. But music is not everything to these teens, they are also starting an acting career and have filmed their first 3D Movie, which will be released to theaters early next year. Although this is not their first time on screen, for those of you who saw the Hannah Montana 3D movie, the Jonas Brothers played also along Hannah Montana.

Last summer, the Jonas Brothers were on the road promoting “A Little Bit Longer”. According to Ticketmaster, a Disney Digital 3D production crew filmed the two shows in Anaheim, CA on July 13 and 14, which will be made into a theatrical movie and will be released in theatres as a 3D concert movie in January 2009.

As for the Grammys nomination, it won't be like a walk in the park. They'll be competing against Duffy, Adele, Lady Antebellum and Jazmine Sullivan. So, good luck with that!. And for those of you who did not know about it, it turns out the Jonas Brothers are fans of Coldplay. Joe Jonas was quoted recently saying, "we're all big fans of Coldplay, and their "Viva la Vida" is a great record. We got to meet Chris Martin recently, and it was amazing." So, have you heard their new stuff yet? If so, at Red Karaoke your opinion matters!

Duffy Nominated for Three Grammys

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Wait a minute…is it just me or Duffy looks a bit like a way-young Melanie Griffith.. totally reminded me of her when I saw one of her videos for the first time a while back. Hey but Duffy can sing dude. I really liked her 'Mercy' song and guess what…amazing news! Duffy has actually been honored with a stunning three nominations at this year's Grammy Awards to be held on February 9.

Needless to say, Duffy must be like a kid when told she/he is going to Disneyland. After all, it's not everyday that you get nominated for a Grammy. Duffy is actually after the highly coveted 'Best New Artist' award, as well as Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for her mega-smash hit single 'Mercy'. But that's not all. Duffy's debut album 'Rockferry' is also up for the Best Pop Vocal Album award, alongside legendary artists The Eagles and James Taylor. Tough competition if you ask me.

While you and I are getting ready to get together with friends and family to celebrate the holidays Duffy is packing for a trip to the land of the Babushka- that'd be Russia. No doubt about it, Duffy is business. She'll be traveling to Russia on December 21st to play a very special show for her fans in Moscow. According to Duffy's website, the gig will take place in the Barvikha Luxury Village Concert Hall near Moscow. Next March, the 24 year old Welsh singer/songwriter is also scheduled to be in China, Hong Kong, Australia, Japan…you name it. Now, that's living on the fast lane.

As for her "online politics", on a recent interview with The Guardian, Duffy said that she does not mind people illegally downloading her music because she believes most people who do are kids who cannot afford the CDs and will buy them when they get older. Wow! With those words, I am sure she stroke some chords with Generation BitTorrent.

Gotta jet now, but it goes without saying that I wish you all a Happy Holidays season. Now, it’s time for you to sing to the karaoke versions of "Mercy" and "Warwick Avenue."

Ciao.

Time to Go GaGa: Premier of “Just Dance”

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

And in the "Best Dance Recording" category the nominees are: Daft Punk for Harder Better Faster Stronger, Hot Chip for Ready for the Floor, Lady GaGa for Just Dance, Madonna for Give It 2 Me, Rihanna for Disturbia and Sam Sparro for Black and Gold…and the winner is…well, I guess you're gonna have to tune in to the CBS telecast of the 51st Grammy Awards Ceremony to be held on February 8. That's is if you want to find out if Lady GaGa is gonna take the award home with her.

Yeah, for those fans of the Electronica genre, the nomination of Lady Gaga for a Grammy Award probably makes them happy campers. Of course, this is her first Grammy Award nomination for the international blockbuster hit "Just Dance". BTW, we bring you the Grammy Award nominated "Just Dance" for you to sing and go GaGa. I couldn't believe this when I read it, but some critics are already talking about her being the heir of Britney Spear's princess of pop title. Not too shabby for a 22 year old from New York's Upper West Side.

In the meantime, Stefani Joanne Germanotta (Lady GaGa) is touring the country as an opening act for the New Kids on the Block. Yeah, do you remember those guys? Thought so. Recently on an interview with the New York Post, Lady GaGa put it this way, "we can make pop music that's a little bit left of center and a little edgy, that has something new and fresh to say . . . and still put it on Top 40 radio - it's the future." I guess that goes to say that her unorthodox synergies of electro/dance/pop genres are definitely a new mantra for years to come.

Well, we're glad for her. She brings some fresh originality to the music, fashion, art and tech space. "I've always been somebody that stands out in a crowd. I've been making clothes for myself and dressing the way I do for a really long time, so it's not a look for me, it's my lifestyle," she explained. Unsurpisingly, US Weekly called her "Pop's New Dance Diva" and compared her to Madonna. Well, I guess only time will tell. Jury is still out on this one.

So, time to wrap it up for me and time to go GaGa for you all by singing to the tune of "Just Dance". Happy Holidays!.

Exclusive Linkin Park Karaokes

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Linkin Park is one of those rock bands that rose to stardom at the turn of the century. Its peculiar and amazing style of mixing disimilar genres such as Rap and Metal catapulted them to fame. Although not necessarily the pioneers in this niche since other bands such as Anthrax and Red Hot Chili Peppers had also explored this uncharted territory. However, the differentiator for Linkin Park was that their lyrics were extremely sticky and easy to sing.

The initial success led the Linkin Park boys from Southern Cal to sell over 50 millions albums since 1996. Moreover, the band was the recipient of two Grammy Awards. One of their highly awarded album was "Hybrid Theory" that reached all time highs allowing the band to internationalize with world tours and overseas record sales.

"Meteora", their second album was actually even more popular than "Hybrid Theory." In fact during the first week of its release it sold over 800000 copies. For the first month, Linkin Park managed to sell over 3 million copies. In light of their success Linkin Park was invited by Metallica to participate in the 2003 Summer Sanitarium concert with Limp Bizkit, Mudvayne and Deftones.

Last year, the band released its most recent album entitled "Minutes to Midnight." A large number of fans were actually not too happy about the release because they perceived the band had gone too "comercial", and hence changing their original unique style. However, "Minutes to Midnight" has so far fared well. making the album's first single "What I've Done", debut at #1 on Billboard's Modern Rock chart.

So, yeah we've added Linkin Park most recent karaokes for you to sing and have fun. The debut list of Linkin Park karaokes includes:

Somewhere I Belong:

Points of Authority:

One Step Closer:

So, get on the groove and start singing now! BTW, Happy Holidays! to you all fans of Linkin Park.

‘Go All the Way’ Premieres on Red Karaoke

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

I am not sure if you guys were into the alternative rock band Jane's Addiction. Come on that was not too long ago…stop making me feel old. But as a matter of fact, Perry Farrell, author of "Go All the Way", was the frontman of the band. He was also the person who actually spearheaded the creation of the now-famous Lolapalooza series of annual concert festivals.

As for 'Go All the Way' , "the song conjures up that adolescent feeling when a young man, whose been pursuing a girl he really likes, finally gets her," explained Farrell. "It's about the intense emotions when they go all the way." Farrell's "Go All The Way" was produced by Atticus Ross (NIN) and mixed by Alan Moulder, who has previously worked with bands such as Smashing Pumpkins and U2.

So, yesterday we presented to you the karaoke debut of Paramore's "Decode" single, part of of the teen film feature 'Twilight' soundtrack and today we're releasing another single of the "Twilight" album for you to shock and awe your friends and family. So, if you are into DJ club lizard music here we bring you one of the most popular tracks from DJ Peretz, a.k.a. Perry Farrell. Here's "Go All the Way Into the Twilight" for you to sing and -in best Christmas spirit - share now.

Paramore’s “Decode”: A Red Karaoke Exclusive

Monday, December 15th, 2008

By now you probably have already seen/read about the Twilight teen movie. Twilight is an action packed, neo-vampire romantic teen flick where romance between a vampire and a human takes place. The storyline goes like this: Bella Swan has always been a little bit different and when her mother sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn't expect much of anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen, a boy unlike any she's ever met. Soon, Bella and Edward are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance.

Unlike the old vampire movies Edward does not have fangs, and he doesn't drink human blood either. But things get a bit complicated because the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the temptation to make her a victim of his blood-sucking driven desires. Twilight is the first movie from the book series from author Stephanie Meyer. In fact, this is one of the most popular books written for young adults. Since 2004, over 50 million copies have been sold worldwide. In the U.S. only over 7.7 copies have been sold. As a matter of fact, last August 2, 'Breaking Dawn", the fourth book in the series was released and sold over 1.2 million units on the first day.

So yeah this is a shock-and-awe franchise, and of course, it needed a film feature to top it off. The movie has also been a success. Not to mention the Twilight soundtrack with music from Paramore, Linkin Park, Perry Farrell, Collective Soul and others. Paramore was actually awarded with a 2008 MTV Video Music Award in the category of Best Rock Video for the track Crushcrushcrush.

Alright so as an exclusive karaoke debut, we bring you Paramore's “Decode” track that was released on November 25, as part of a live album named "The Final Riot". So whatcha waiting for? If you saw the movie you're going to dig the music. Start recording and singing with your friends. Hope you enjoy it!

Karaoke Premiere of Christina’s ‘Keeps Gettin’ Better’

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

Christina Aguilera was born on December 18, 1980, which means she's about to be twenty eight years old so in honor of her soon-to-be b-day and in light of the recent release of "Keeps Gettin' Better" we thought of putting together a special with the best of the pop/R&B singer and songwriter for you to sing and celebrate with.

RCA Records, Christina Aguilera's music house put together this latest album to celebrate Christina's 10 years in the music industry. In essence, the album is a collection of her greatest hits, among them, the album's lead single, "Keeps Gettin' Better" , which was actually premiered at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. The track peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In a recent interview with SAWF news, Christina describes her latest act as "short, sweet and completely different" from Back to Basics. Wait a minute, is it just me but usually Greatest Hits albums were put together by artists who were older and with a long artistic trajectory. Now, Christina is not even 28 yet and she already has a Greatest Hits album out. Times are definitely changing.

But, Christina is definitely not a one-trick-pony kinda gal. Well, who isn't nowadays? In order to keep yourself relevant you gotta become a sort of marketing platform. She has done film, television and let's not forget all the product endorsements and placement on behalf of Verizon Wireless, Mercedes Benz, Coca Cola, Pepsi, Versace, you name it. BTW, she even released a couple of fragrances in Europe: "Xpose" and "Simply Christina". Undoubtedly, life can be rewarding when you live on the fast lane.

So, if you can't get enough of Christina Aguilera, here we bring you over 40 karaoke tracks for you to sing and have fun with sharing with others, including an exclusive karaoke premiere of "Keeps Gettin' Better" . So, whatcha waiting for? Sing to the music of Christina Aguilera now! BTW, Happy Birthday Christina!

Christmas Karaoke at Houston’s Intercontinental

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

So, you are flying out of Houston Intercontinental and you feel like belting out to the music of your favorite artists, well, guess what? now you can do it at Houston's airport. According to the Houston Chronicle, Rob Mason, a supervisor in the part of the airport that oversees passport control, is the man responsible for donating the karaoke equipment. In years past, the airport has brought in school choirs to sing carols in the concourses. This year, however, the Chronicle says Mason volunteered the "professional-grade karaoke machine he usually brings to his mother's nursing home to entertain the residents." The Chronicle adds that "the station is set up just past security in Terminal E. In a few days it will move to Terminal A. During Christmas week, it will be in the international baggage claim area."

So, if you are trying to practice that Christmas carol to impress the family over Christmas, here's your chance to do it. Although I am thinking at least in our congested US airports at least during the holidays usually business travelers are jamming through airport corridors with scarce time to carry a tune. Nevertheless, I can see it though as a decompressing accoutrement. Let me picture it this way…you grab your Starbucks and head out to one of the karaoke station after going thru security and voila you get to practice 'Santa Baby' in the sultry style of The Pussycat Dolls vixens.

As for traveling families I'd think this is probably the target demo of preference. Have you tried keeping the kids entertained while having a long layover or stranded at the airport…asssuming you're a low tech family and don't have a DVD player with a collection of G movies then karaoke can definitely help. At the end of the day it comes down to having time to spare and sing but with Homeland Security and long lines, time has pretty much become a worldwide commodity. I can totally see it though if you are a business traveler and are stranded at Bush Intercontinental you might want to give karaoke a shot as a way of decompressing and relaxing. Kinda weird though picturing Brooks Brothers-clad businesswomen or businessmen belting it out on the corridors of George Bush Intercontinental.

But, hey there's gotta be something for everyone right. After all, this is America and if it's free the better. I wonder though if this experiment can actually take off and become a fixture at major airport hubs. I am sure there's gotta be more than one entrepreneur scanning the environment. It's perhaps not a far-fetched thought the day where we can see 'karaoke kiosks' at airports. Let me think about it…kick off your shoes, relax your feet and belt it out. Yeah, I guess it can 'fly'. Whether it takes off or not come on take it as a Christmas present from your friends at Houston's Intercontinental. And don't be a Grinch about it. So if you are in the neck of the woods start singing now.

Taylor Swift: ‘Swiftly’ on Top of the Charts

Monday, December 8th, 2008

Wow! Eighteen years old and Taylor Swift is already in possession of a number 1 album in the country. Pretty amazing, huh? Well we're happy for her. Although kinda bummed she was not nominated for the Grammy Awards. But that's ok she's still a teen and there's tons of time for her to grow and evolve in her career. Good things come to those who wait, so the saying goes.

Taylor Swift has been all over late,ly from the Grammy Award Nominations concert to Jay Leno's The Tonight Show. A long way for a girl that grew up in the Christmas tree farm. And in fact, she'll be actually turning 19-years old on December 13th. And for her b-day, she's actually asking for a new boyfriend and a new pair of glasses. Kinda low key b-day and Christmas presents for the # 1 album holder in the country. But hey that's Taylor Swift for you.

So you want to know to mend a broken heart? After breaking up with Joe Jonas from the Jonas Brothers the teen singer wrote the song "Forever & Always" about Joe Jonas, and the song appeared on her album, Fearless. It was the last song that she had recorded, and it was a last minute addition to her album, making it thirteen songs total. On a radio interview, she stated that the the number 13 is her "lucky number". We're glad she got over the break-up and that sh has'swiftly' has risen to the top of the country charts with her bubbly personality and catchy tunes. Keep up the good work!

So, we at Red Karaoke some added some new Taylor Swift tracks from the # 1 album in the country: "Fearless". We invite you to sing to "Fearless" and "Love Story". And for those of you who can't get enough of Taylor Swift, she has actually been added as a performer on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, which will air Jan. 31 on ABC. The Jonas Brothers and Lionel Riche will also perform, as will Natasha Bedingfield, Fall Out Boy, Jesse McCartney, Ne-Yo, Pussycat Dolls, Solange and Robin Thicke. Have fun and drop us a line when you have a chance.
