The All American Rejects
Tuesday, December 30th, 2008
Oklahoma natives Tyson Ritter, Nick Wheeler, Mike Kennerty and Chris Gaylor are the names of the members of "The All American Rejects" a band that reached popularity with the release of the album "Move Along." Today, the band is one of the top pop rock bands, producing three U.S. Hot 100 top twenty hits with two reaching the top ten.
The All American Rejects album "Move Along" was certified double Platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA. As for the band's third album, the band released "When the World Comes Down" last December 16, 2008 and has so far their first single off "When the World Comes Down", called "Gives You Hell" has reached #14 on VH1's Top 20 Countdown. So, these guys are doing well so far for a band that was founded back in 2001 by Tyson Ritter and Nick Wheeler. In fact, even the Oklahoma Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has honored the band as an "Uprising Star."
Recently, an LA Times review referred to the band's music as "relentlessly hooky singles destined to score teenage rom-com dance party sequences for time immortal, and it hasn't hurt that their emo-Adonis frontman Tyson Ritter has cheekbones that could slice bread." I guess the jury is still out as to whether frontman Tyson Ritter is just a pretty boy who can carry emo's poppiest tunes.
So what is your opinion? Well, here's "Move Along" for you to give it a try and have fun. And by the way, before I take off I want to wish you all a Happy New Year! Ciao.

No doubts about it, Kevin, Joe, and Nick have been quite busy creating music appealing mostly to that younger demo and have become in the process a new pop cultural phenomenom. The new album “A Little Bit Longer” contains 12 tracks, and according to music critics, marks a new evolving step in their careers as songwriters. And recently they were just nominated to their first Grammy Award in the category of Best New Artist. The 51st edition of the Grammys will take place on Sunday, February 9 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The show will air on CBS.
Wait a minute…is it just me or Duffy looks a bit like a way-young Melanie Griffith.. totally reminded me of her when I saw one of her videos for the first time a while back. Hey but Duffy can sing dude. I really liked her 'Mercy' song and guess what…amazing news! Duffy has actually been honored with a stunning three nominations at this year's Grammy Awards to be held on February 9.
And in the "Best Dance Recording" category the nominees are: Daft Punk for Harder Better Faster Stronger, Hot Chip for Ready for the Floor, Lady GaGa for Just Dance, Madonna for Give It 2 Me, Rihanna for Disturbia and Sam Sparro for Black and Gold…and the winner is…well, I guess you're gonna have to tune in to the CBS telecast of the 51st Grammy Awards Ceremony to be held on February 8. That's is if you want to find out if Lady GaGa is gonna take the award home with her.
Linkin Park is one of those rock bands that rose to stardom at the turn of the century. Its peculiar and amazing style of mixing disimilar genres such as Rap and Metal catapulted them to fame. Although not necessarily the pioneers in this niche since other bands such as Anthrax and Red Hot Chili Peppers had also explored this uncharted territory. However, the differentiator for Linkin Park was that their lyrics were extremely sticky and easy to sing.
I am not sure if you guys were into the alternative rock band Jane's Addiction. Come on that was not too long ago…stop making me feel old. But as a matter of fact, Perry Farrell, author of "Go All the Way", was the frontman of the band. He was also the person who actually spearheaded the creation of the now-famous Lolapalooza series of annual concert festivals.
By now you probably have already seen/read about the Twilight teen movie. Twilight is an action packed, neo-vampire romantic teen flick where romance between a vampire and a human takes place. The storyline goes like this: Bella Swan has always been a little bit different and when her mother sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn't expect much of anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen, a boy unlike any she's ever met. Soon, Bella and Edward are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance.
Christina Aguilera was born on December 18, 1980, which means she's about to be twenty eight years old so in honor of her soon-to-be b-day and in light of the recent release of "Keeps Gettin' Better" we thought of putting together a special with the best of the pop/R&B singer and songwriter for you to sing and celebrate with.
So, you are flying out of Houston Intercontinental and you feel like belting out to the music of your favorite artists, well, guess what? now you can do it at Houston's airport. According to the Houston Chronicle, Rob Mason, a supervisor in the part of the airport that oversees passport control, is the man responsible for donating the karaoke equipment. In years past, the airport has brought in school choirs to sing carols in the concourses. This year, however, the Chronicle says Mason volunteered the "professional-grade karaoke machine he usually brings to his mother's nursing home to entertain the residents." The Chronicle adds that "the station is set up just past security in Terminal E. In a few days it will move to Terminal A. During Christmas week, it will be in the international baggage claim area."
Wow! Eighteen years old and Taylor Swift is already in possession of a number 1 album in the country. Pretty amazing, huh? Well we're happy for her. Although kinda bummed she was not nominated for the Grammy Awards. But that's ok she's still a teen and there's tons of time for her to grow and evolve in her career. Good things come to those who wait, so the saying goes.
