Mariah Carey’s “Touch My Body”
The 38-year-old actress and singer Mariah Carey made 2008 Time's annual list of 100 most Influential people in America. Similarly, on January 2007, Forbes magazine ranked Mariah Carey as one of the 20 richest women in entertainment. With the release of her most recent album "E=MC²" Mariah Carey was nominated for Favorite Soul/R&B Album at the 2008 American Music Awards. E=MC² was the Album of the Year at the 2008 Word Music Awards and at the 2009 Female Icon Awards, Carey won in the category Music Album of the Year. That tells us pretty much tell us how big of a household name Mariah Carey has become.
Mariah Carey's 11th studio album, E=MC² debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 with 463,000 copies sold, making it the biggest opening week sales of her career. The first single from the album, "Touch My Body" , reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, surpassing Elvis Presley for the most number one singles for a solo artist. Other singles include "Bye Bye", "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time", and "I Stay in Love".
On April 15, 2008, the same day the album was released, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa proclaimed April 15 officially as "Mariah Carey day".
