Born and raised Brits, Andy Brown, Adam Pitts, Joel Peat and Ryan Fletcher, originally from Liverpool, Brighton, Nottingham and Chesterfield respectively, joined together after studying at music school and perusing Myspace for guitarists and singer songwriters that fit their style. Originally named Grove, the group began recording music together for youtube in 2010 and their first piece of work, When she was mine, became one of the highest rated recording on Youtube within a week helping them to get their big UK break.
Though the boys made it look easy, they weren’t without their own challenges. Lead singer Andy was diagnosed with a brain tumor early on in their success, which prompted the boys change of name to “Lawson”, for the doctor who operated on Andy.
But Lawson has seen only ups from there, having been given the chance to open for one of the UK’s biggest sensations and one of their personal inspirations, The Wanted on their major European tour, leading to work with artists such as Avril Lavigne and Westlife.
As Lawson prepares to release their peppy pop sure to be hit Taking over me and their debut album later this year, you can already practice becoming their number one fan singing Taking over me right here on Red Karaoke.
