On another note, it has been reported that Avril Lavigne has fired her manager, Terry McBride. Apparently, the Canadian singer blames McBride for the mediocre performance of her last album and of the upside downs of her career. For those of you who did not know, Avril Lavigne's "The Best Damn Thing" album sold a total of 6 million copies worldwide in October 2008.

BTW, if you are really a hardcore fan of Avril and can't get enough of the loony rocker it just so happens that she has very own 2009 Calendar. So, yeah it seems like this 24 year-old Canadian punk rocker is all over the place. With the military, he spent two year and returned to the spotlight with the Frank Sinatra show whom he sang with duets like "Love Me Tender" and "Witchcraft" . For a 10 minute gig with the Frank Sinatra show Elvis charged $125.000. Sinatra himself had to pay out of pocket because his producer refused to pay for it. But it paid off big time since once the ratings came out, the Sinatra show had reached historical audience ratings. The show was viewed by over 40 million people.

But it wasn't until the seventies when he went from being an idol to a musical myth. In 1972, Elvis got divorced from Priscilla Ann-Beaulieau, whom he married 1967. The break up sent Elvis into a depression he had a hard time recovering from. And in 1973, "Aloha from Hawaii" was the the first concert in history broadcasted via satellite from Hawaii. The concert was actually viewed by over 1500 million people. It is also in this decade that problems with overeating and drug use started to deteriorate Elvis' health.

During 1976-1977 Elvis was no longer the strong, energetic idol that had conquered the world. He had gained a lot of weight, and even had a hard time remembering the lyrics of songs. His last concert took place on June 26, 1977 at the Indiana’s Market Square Arena. On the early morning of August 16, 1977, at around noon Elvis was found unconcious in his room's bathroom. The All American Rejects album "Move Along" was certified double Platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA. As for the band's third album, the band released "When the World Comes Down" last December 16, 2008 and has so far their first single off "When the World Comes Down", called "Gives You Hell" has reached #14 on VH1's Top 20 Countdown. So, these guys are doing well so far for a band that was founded back in 2001 by Tyson Ritter and Nick Wheeler. In fact, even the Oklahoma Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has honored the band as an "Uprising Star."

Recently, an LA Times review referred to the band's music as "relentlessly hooky singles destined to score teenage rom-com dance party sequences for time immortal, and it hasn't hurt that their emo-Adonis frontman Tyson Ritter has cheekbones that could slice bread." I guess the jury is still out as to whether frontman Tyson Ritter is just a pretty boy who can carry emo's poppiest tunes.

As for their career, although short, the Jonas Brothers have been quite active. They have released two albums “It’s About Time” in 2006, and “Jonas Brothers” in 2007. But music is not everything to these teens, they are also starting an acting career and have filmed their first 3D Movie, which will be released to theaters early next year. Although this is not their first time on screen, for those of you who saw the Hannah Montana 3D movie, the Jonas Brothers played also along Hannah Montana.

Last summer, the Jonas Brothers were on the road promoting “A Little Bit Longer”. According to Ticketmaster, a Disney Digital 3D production crew filmed the two shows in Anaheim, CA on July 13 and 14, which will be made into a theatrical movie and will be released in theatres as a 3D concert movie in January 2009.

As for the Grammys nomination, it won't be like a walk in the park. They'll be competing against Duffy, Adele, Lady Antebellum and Jazmine Sullivan. So, good luck with that!. Duffy's debut album 'Rockferry' is also up for the Best Pop Vocal Album award, alongside legendary artists The Eagles and James Taylor. Tough competition if you ask me.

While you and I are getting ready to get together with friends and family to celebrate the holidays Duffy is packing for a trip to the land of the Babushka- that'd be Russia. No doubt about it, Duffy is business. She'll be traveling to Russia on December 21st to play a very special show for her fans in Moscow. According to Duffy's website, the gig will take place in the Barvikha Luxury Village Concert Hall near Moscow. Next March, the 24 year old Welsh singer/songwriter is also scheduled to be in China, Hong Kong, Australia, Japan…you name it. Now, that's living on the fast lane.

As for her "online politics", on a recent interview with The Guardian, Duffy said that she does not mind people illegally downloading her music because she believes most people who do are kids who cannot afford the CDs and will buy them when they get older. I guess that goes to say that her unorthodox synergies of electro/dance/pop genres are definitely a new mantra for years to come.
