New Voting System

We have just launched the new voting system. A quick and easy explanation is that from now own you will not be able to see who has voted and how much they have voted, you will simply see that you have one more vote. For more detail:

With the new voting system, you can vote on one side and comment on the other. To vote, you simply have to select the vote that you want to give the recording by p***ing the cursor over the star. Once you click the vote will be registered. If you notice, as you p*** the cursor over each star, the description of your vote will change (good, notable, above par, etc) As said, you only need to click to register your vote.

The vote that we have been given will be added to the number of votes given to the recording, but the only difference is that you will not be able to see who has voted nor what number they have voted with. We will only know how many times we have received votes.

Comments.
The system to make comments on the recordings will be the same as before. All you have to do is press the ¨comment¨ button, and it will open a small window in order to write your comments there. In this window you will not see any stars to vote with.

The new system permits us to listen, give a vote and comment, all while listening to the song. After voting the page will not reload, only after making a comment.

Of course, now votes will not appear with comments. That is to say, all votes whether made with a comment or not will not appear, only the comments that are made. As said before, you wil only be able to see the number of votes that have been made.

That is not to say that we will not be responding to attacks. And of course, the administration will not reveal who has voted and with how many stars to other users. On the other hand, we will not pay attention to messages of users that ask us to investigate supposed personal attacks from other users of Red Karaoke.

I want to comment that we have tools that detect if a user receives a huge amount of low votes (by low votes we mean below 5). In the case that it is detected, the votes will not have any affect on the ranking.

Also, the number of comments you have had before will probably change. This is due to the fact that those votes that were without comments counted before as a comment. Now with the change, those are no longer counted with the comments and are only counted as votes.

Finally, we want to make clear that this may produce some changes in the ranking. The way the ranking is calculated has not been changed. Any variation in your position in the ranking will be due only to the NEW votes received.

The same as before, the administration will not pay attention to messages that ask for explanations about how to go up and down in the rankings. The answers to all will be a link to the forum.

I was just curious if you guys were planning on changing the voting system of video's that are songs that are not in the system?
The highest rating ive seen was 2/5. Ive heard thats a good thing, but It would be nice if we could view the video and see what its rated in stars. It would be much less confussing and I think everyone would prefer it. I know theres alot of ppl who do videos of songs of there own and it can frustrating seeing that alot of other ppl get stars and wondering what 1-2/5 means, lol.
Another thing is that I enjoy doing videos but for some reason when I do a video on redkaraoke it saves but comes up as a blank screen that does not play. It would be great if I could upload a video of a song that is in the system and still get stars
Just something to consider that I think would be a good idea

I am sure that the Administrator will reply to you to all questions, but I want to clarify one point: the voting system of the videos is totally different from the recordings for one important reason. We want to separate them, in order to show to the members that the video section have not relation with the rankings. I mean, the votes of your videos doesn't affect to your position on the rankings. So, we think it is better to show a different way to vote.

For the rest of the people: it is important that you know about the changes in the voting system. We hope that new system will help a lot to the community to have more fun and to enjoy more and more your time in Red Karaoke.

But why is it that video's cant count and have to be seperate from recordings?
The majoraty of the videos are people Karaoking to there own karaoke Cds... So why shouldnt they be part of the voting and ranking proccess.
I understand that the things that have nothing to do with karaoke shouldnt a part of getting into the rankings but theres alot of songs that people cant do on here so they make a video with there own karaoke Cd. Isint it only fair that they should be able to include that song in there ranking? Im sure that there could be a way to make it so that the people that are karaoking songs on video can be inluded in the voting somehow.
The majority of the videos are not much different from the recordings... Even the recordings can have videos. The only difference is that the song isint on here.
Its no big deal.. I just see alot of people doing songs that arent on here, sitting infront of the computer just like the recordings and not being able to get votes for the ranking that they deserve. Its not there fault the songs arent on here and its sometimes a downer thinking that the song you have at home that you can do a good job on isint gonna make a difference in this Karaoke world we enjoy, lol.
But it was just a suggestion that I think would make people happier... doesnt matter much wether it changes or not.

From my arrival, I noticed an inconvenience at the level of the votes. Indeed, when we voted, it is not possible any more to re-vote. In theory it seems normal. To there everything is well, nevertheless in case of error on the number of stars or the comment, it would be interessant to be able to modify both...

I uploaded 3 videos for your system to register directly (voice only or video), I have some technical problems. Either it does not (have to redo the video), the voice is shifted compared to the music (example: No milk today), a part of the soundtrack disappears (example: sardou - a girl with bright eyes ). The quality is better with my own recordings and midi files (. kar) are strictly the same as redkaraoke, I found this link for years: http://www.espace-francophone.com/karaoke/index_e.html

The voting and ranking process is for karaokes recorded through Red Karaoke´s program specifically, because that is the system of Red Karaoke. The videos are meant to be an extra way you can have fun here on the site, but to be included in the ranking you have to record through Red Karaoke´s system.

If there are songs that you would like to record but are not on here, please use the request forum and let us know. We are constantly adding to the karaoke database, and we want to know what you want to record!

Also, you are free to upload karaokes that you own, so don´t hesitate to upload a song you love singing at home!

I´m not sure I understand your problems exactly. My advice is to try and close all the other programs that are running in order that the Karaoke program can run more smoothly and have less problems.

If you continue to have problems, don´t hesitate to send a message.

So i like the new voting , but was wondering if they should set every one back to zero and start with the fresh voting let the people keep the comments just reset the ratings food for thought would be a fair way to just start fresh with this new ratings ,

One additional reason to separate the videos from the recordings in order to create the ranking: you can upload all kind of videos, not necessary related to karaoke. For example, you can upload a very funny video (Youtube style) and take thousand of high votes. If this affect the ranking, you can be on the first positions without sing a song. To be fair, all the people have to compite with the same possibilities and the same rules.
