Singing and Recording karaoke

The first thing you need to do is install the latest version of the Flash Player in order to use our recording player.

Once you have installed it, search for the song you want. For this we have a karaoke recommendations on the homepage, a search box at the top of each Red Karaoke page, or you can go to our catalogue to search by a certain theme or genre. You can search for songs using the search box by song title or artists and choose the one you like most from the list of results.

Once you’ve chosen the karaoke you want to sing, all you have to do is click on the button “Sing”. This will load the player. The first time you open this player, you will be able to configure your microphone and webcam. To do this, select the corresponding tab. If you mark the box “Remember me”, you will not have to configure your settings again.

Yes, if you have a VIP service, you can download your recordings to your computer. You will find the download button mousing over each recording in your recordings list. In order to limit lag on Red Karaoke, downloads are limited to 10 recordings a day.
  • Before recording your song, listen to the song you’ve chosen at least once, so that you are familiar with the lyrics and key of the music. If you are using Virtua Sing, test out the dance moves and sound before recording.
  • Don’t put your mouth to close to the microphone so the sound of your breathing doesn’t pick up and so that the microphone doesn’t sound fuzzy. If the sound is overly saturated you will be able to tell if the microphone volume indicator reaches the red area.
  • It is best to record using headphones because the music from the speakers may be recorded along with the actual music.
  • If you have the playback volume on your soundcard really high, it can make the recording sound distorted, even if you use speakers or headphones that allow you to control the volume externally. In this case, be sure to lower the playback volume on your computer or in the player to a medium level and try again.
  • Never use two or more windows with the player open at the same time. Avoid opening other applications that might overload your processor’s capacity.
  • Before saving you recording on Red Karaoke, listen to what you have sung, in case there is some problem. If something went wrong, you can discord the recording and try again and this way you’ll guarantee the quality of your recording. You can also sing without recording if you want.
  • Once you have recorded your song, let you friends know by sending a message with your favorite social network (Facebook, Twitter) so that they can hear you, vote and send comments.
  • Try recording without external devices:  without a mixing table, without external amps. It is better to use the microphone directly connected to your PC or mace.
  • Try deactivating any sound effects that you have activated in your sound card, because they can create a problem with synchronization especially if your sound card is external.
  • Don’t trust completely in the preview: it is possible the preview may sound un-synchronized, but saving the recording may show that it is perfectly synchronized.
  • If your voice seems quiet, raise the volume of the microphone and activate the amplification option in our sound configuration. If that doesn’t work, try another microphone.

The MP3 recording system on Red Karaoke automatically detects whether your computer is configured or not. In case it is not, a Configuration Assistant will automatically appear which will guide you through simple step by step settings. You will only need to complete this process the first time you use the player, but you can access the configuration as many times as you lik using the corresponding button in the player.

Microphone and Stereo

Our configuration assistant automatically detects the best settings for recording on Red Karaoke, but in case it fails, here is how you can configure it.

There are two possibly configurations for recording on Red Karaoke, with the stereo mixer activated and without it, we’ll explain how to configure both:

Without the stereo mixer

Step 1: Right click on the speaker icon that you’ll find in the right part of the screen, next to the clock, and select “Recording devices”.

Step 2: It is possible that you have the stereo mixer selected as the predetermined recording device. Right click on the device and select “Disable”.

Step 3: Now select the microphone and right click it. This time, select 'Enable', repeat the process and select “Set as default device”.

Click accept and now your computer is configured for recording with the microphone and without the stereo mixer.

With the stereo mixer

To record with the stereo mixer, repeat the previous steps of 'Without stereo mixer', but this time set the stereo mixer as the default device and activate the microphone. .

With this setup it is possible that the music may sound double on your recordings, in which case you simply need to silence the music from the player before you begin recording.

If you are recording a song and only the music has been recorded, it is possible that you have the microphone muted. Check your recording options to make sure it isn’t.

In case you are recording with webcam, it is possible that your computer may mistakenly detect your webcam as a microphone, in which case you should check that it is deactivated.

It is possible that when recording using a laptop with a microphone jack that the system may confuse this with the computer’s internal microphone. Be sure to deactivate the laptop microphone in your sound options.

In the case that you have a Realtek or AC97 sound card, it is possible the system may confuse the first port for the microphone with the back port, making it impossible to record anything. Follow the steps of this tutorial to solve this issue.

If when trying to listen to a recording you do not hear anything, most likely the player is muted. Check by opening the recording, clicking on the speaker in the corner of the player, and make sure it is not too low or muted.

If the recording does not load, there may be a problem with the flash player in which case we recommend you reinstall it.

To do this, start by uninstalling Flash following the instructions on this page, then once you are sure it is uninstalled, reinstall the flash player by downloading it from this link.

This happens for various reasons, though the most likely is that while recording, other programs that use up bandwidth were running, or just too many programs that do not connect to the internet were open on your computer, all of which slow down your computer.
